Supported by the very latest technology, equipment, and facilities, at Wakefield Hospital we are able to provide the most comprehensive range of private surgical facilities in the Wellington area.

Operating theatre and recovery

Our operating suite comprises 6 theatres and a 10-bed recovery unit fully equipped to meet the requirements of modern surgery.

 

 

Patient Rooms

Here at Wakefield, we endeavour to give you a room to suit your needs. If you are staying overnight you will be provided with a private room and ensuite bathroom.

We have 34 private rooms with ensuites, five ICU/HDU beds, three endoscopy beds, and eight La-Z-Boy chairs for short-stay and pre-admission patients.

All of our patient rooms have private TV (Sky), radio and telephone. We have free WiFi which is available for you to use.

Our fees vary accordingly and will be confirmed when we talk with you prior to your admission.

Wakefield Specialist Centre

Day Stay

The Day Stay Unit is a shared accommodation wing of the hospital which provides specialised care for procedures which are shorter in nature.

Our team will make you comfortable in a lazy boy chair while you recover.

Intensive Care (ICU) and High Dependency Care (HDU)

These special care units provide post-operative intensive and high dependency care. They feature the latest monitoring equipment and are used for patients who have undergone complex surgery or procedures and emergency care if necessary. We have five ICU/HDU beds at our hospital.

Pharmacy

We have a Pharmacy Department at Wakefield Hospital which offers clinical, educational and supply services to our hospital. The experienced staff work with us to fulfil an important clinical role in supporting all departments for any pharmaceutical related information.

Outpatients

Wakefield Hospital has the following outpatient clinics:
– Wakefield Specialist Centre
– Wakefield Heart Centre
– Gastroenterology at Wakefield
– Proactive

Outlying clinics operate at Kapiti and Waikanae under the Wakefield umbrella, and many of our specialists consult as far afield as Palmerston North, Auckland and Christchurch.

Mojo Café

Your visitors will be able to enjoy the coffee and delicious cabinet food from Mojo Café Monday- Friday 7.30am- 3.00pm.

Cafeteria

Your visitors will be able to purchase snacks from the cafeteria between 9:00am and 3:00pm Monday – Friday. Evening meals are also available and should be ordered and paid for directly with the cafeteria by 3:00pm.

Parking

Free parking is provided within our hospital grounds. Please note we accept no responsibility for your car security.
