Theresa Gurney is a consultant Otolaryngologist with prior experience in the public health system in the Wellington region who is expanding to private work. Her credentials included up-to-date certification with the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery as well as full vocational registration with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Her training and experience both in the United States as well as here in New Zealand give her a breadth and understanding to care for a wide variety of patient populations.
Dr. Gurney practice encompasses the breath of general Ear, Nose and Throat problems for both children and adults. Her practice focuses on compassion and collaboration. She aims for prompt communication when possible.
Dr. Gurney graduated from Stanford University with Honors. She attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, receiving an Alpa Omega Alpha citation awarded to top medical students. She continued at UCSF for Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery training and published research in peer-reviewed journals during this time, as well as authoring book chapters. She worked in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area before beginning her work here in New Zealand.
