World Heart Day

World Heart Day

Posted on September 29, 2026

Don’t Miss a Beat.

Heart disease can sometimes be difficult to recognise. Symptoms may be subtle, unusual or mistaken for something else – but knowing the signs and taking action could make all the difference.

This World Heart Day, we’re encouraging everyone to listen to their heart and not ignore changes in how they feel.

Look out for symptoms such as:
• Chest pain, pressure or discomfort
• Shortness of breath
• Unusual tiredness
• Dizziness or feeling faint
• A racing, fluttering or irregular heartbeat
• Pain or discomfort spreading to the arm, shoulder, back, neck or jaw

If something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait. Talk to your healthcare professional.

At Wakefield Heart Centre, our specialist cardiology team provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of heart conditions, helping patients get the care they need when it matters.

And today, we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Wakefield Heart Centre – for your expertise, compassion and dedication to caring for patients and their whānau, every day.
